Este libro fue traducido del portugués al español por Javier Carlés, en base a la traducción del original en inglés realizada al portugués por Günther Bachmann y corregida por Annie Nehmad.
Duncan Hallas nació en Gran Bretaña. Se convirtió en socialista revolucionario durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Durante la misma fue uno de los líderes del movimiento de base surgido en las tropas británicas destacadas en Egipto. Luego de la guerra regresó a su nativa Manchester a trabajar como obrero fabril. Ayudó a formar el grupo Socialist Review, dando inicio a nuestra Tendencia Socialista Internacional (IST). Tuvo un destacado activismo en el sindicato nacional de maestros y luego en el liderazgo del Socialist Workers Party (SWP). Fue editor de la revista International Socialist, autor de dos libros (El Comintern y El Marxismo de Trotsky; este último editado por primera vez en 1979 y que constituye el presente folleto) y de numerosos artículos. También fue un brillante orador, jugando un papel muy importante entre los años 70s y 80s en la extensión a muchos países de la IST. Falleciendo el 19 de Septiembre de 2002.
